Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream - review

Not long ago I tried Burt's Bees cult Beeswax Lip Balm, which I'd received in one of my Bellaboxes. I wasn't a fan (dammit, thought I would be!), but the brand has gone rather viral so I was interested in trying other products.

I picked up the cuticle cream in the FB Bellabox Swap Group (exchanged for a Yes to Carrots lip balm, which I didn't need) and I'm so glad I did.

In the Bellabox shop it retails for $14.99 for 8.5g. Unless you're doing a points purchase, I'm sure you could pick it up at one of the discount pharmacies for a cheaper price. While you're there, check out Burt's Bees Almond & Milk hand cream, a cute little tub of which I also received from Bellabox and I love it to pieces - I've already bought the full-sized product. I'll do a full review of that one at some point, but you can see my initial comments in my June 2014 Bellabox post.

Now, the cuticle cream...

Burt's Bees claims/product details:
  • Specially formulated, hydrating and conditioning
  • Softens, moisturises and strengthens cuticles with sweet almond oil and cocoa seed butter
  • Nourishes brittle nails with Vitamin E and sunflower oil
  • Fresh lemon scent
  • 100% natural, no animal testing

First, I have to rave about the smell of this: it smells exactly like lemon butter. I almost want to put in on my toast. It comes in a cute little tin and looks like a small amount of product, but it should last for ages - it's a waxy product (like eg Blistex Lip Conditioner) and you only need the tiniest amount. I'm wondering if I'll ever get through it, since cuticle cream is not something I use every day (maybe once or twice a week). So yes, it's worth the price and will last for a while.

Verdict

Does it live up to its claims? YES. It's wonderfully moisturising, smells sensational and contains all sorts of goodies. If you have super dry hands (or even dry skin on eg your elbows or feet), you could probably use this as a spot treatment.

My only issue with the product is that it's a bit hard to open (particularly if you've just put moisturiser on your face and your hands are greasy - so don't make my mistake!) and it's easier to open by using some fabric (I used my bed-sheet) to pull the lid off, especially if you don't want to chip your nails (yep, I managed to do that. Twice).

Highly recommended. Let me know if you've tried this and/or other Burt's Bees products. I've also tried their Nourishing Honey & Milk Body Lotion and didn't think much of it, so for me the brand can be a little hit and miss, and I've love to hear about others' fave Burt's Bees products : )

Burt's Bees products are widely available in-store (eg Priceline) and can also be bought in the Bellabox shop.
