KUU Konjac Sponge with French Red Clay - review

I received this sponge as part of a little prize pack. I opened it in the first week of December and have been using it on and off since then. I've mentioned before that I can be pretty lazy, and remembering to use this - despite that it's sitting right there in full view in the shower - has presented something of a challenge ; )

But I made sure I gave it a really good go over the past couple of weeks so I could review it properly. I should say that mine has started to decay, so I've now stopped using it. These sponges are meant to last you two to three months of 'normal daily use'; mine didn't quite make that unfortunately, so I hope that's not an issue with the product. For now I'll put it down to being an issue with our bathroom, which is small and the fan is super old and needs replacing.

Thought I might as well include the above and below photos to give you more info : )

Here's what my sponge is looking like now, after less than two months (yuk):

Verdict

I was totally disappointed by this product. It added nothing to my cleansing routine.

First, I tried using it without cleanser and it did absolutely nothing - so I wouldn't recommend that approach!

Second, it's so gentle that it feels like it's taking your cleansing routine 'backwards'. I personally think you're much better off just using your hands.

Third, the whole process of using this just seemed fiddly to me, without any payoff. Plus you have to rinse it and then rehydrate it before the next use (it goes all shrivelled and hard between uses) and that just adds extra steps in the shower that I suspect would annoy many people. They certainly annoyed me ; )

Finally, any claims relating to what it does for your skin - reducing fine lines, stimulating regeneration, soothing effect etc etc - weren't met at all. If anything, this sponge seemed to hamper the cleansing process and did nothing for my skin.

A high-maintenance product that doesn't deliver. Not worth the hassle!
