Mizon Water Volume Acqua Gel Cream - review

I received this gel in Memebox Special #61 Volume Up! It didn't sound that amazing on the product description card (nor does it look particularly good), but of course, those things can be deceiving.

Unfortunately they weren't deceiving in this case.

Mizon claims/product details:
  • A lightweight, fast-absorbing facial cream
  • Enriched with Alaska glacier water, deep ocean water, coral water, witch hazel leaf, watermelon, basil leaf, lotus, niacinamide and birch tree sap
  • Aims to balance out and brighten up uneven skintone
  • Delivers an instant moisture boost
  • RRP $9 for 50ml

I've given it a squirt below so you can see what it looks like. It's a cloudy gel that feels a little sticky when applied, like aloe vera.

Verdict

This is a gel (rather than a 'gel cream' - whatever that is) and it's pretty much as you might expect it to be: sticky, clear, smells cool/icy and leaves a thin film on your face.

It's not a great product and I don't find it to be particularly moisturising/hydrating, nor does it even out or brighten up skintone to any noticeable degree. So I don't think it lives up to its claims.

One thing to note is that it doesn't sit well over makeup (it 'curdles'/separates my foundation), so do be aware of that. And it's what it does to makeup is the deal-breaker for me - it's gone straight to the body cream section because I have much better products to use on my face.

In short, a pretty rubbish gel. But at least it will get used.
