Emite Make Up Precision Eye Pencil in SPIR - review

We received this cream eye pencil in January's Violet Box.

Since I didn't have a cream eye pencil and liked this one, I managed to pick up a second via the FB Violet Box Swap group (huzzah!).

Emite claims/product details:
  • This pencil gives you 'perfect accuracy' when you want to emphasise your eyes or create striking eye makeup
  • It's also good for creating 'natural lash marks' (I've no idea how you'd do that?!)
  • The formula is designed to be soft and flexible, which makes it easy to create blurs
  • Gentle ingredients for the delicate skin around the eyes
  • RRP $24.95

I'm not sure about the lash marks (and I'd say this pencil is just as accurate as the next one ; ) ), but this product is awesome as an inner corner highlight and upper eyeliner to really open up your eyes. See photo below: I've put the pencil on the left eye and not the right one.

In the below shot I've put it on both eyes and also used it as a concealer. You can tell the slight difference from the shot above - in the above photo my under-eye bags are more pronounced. Note that the upper lash line has already transferred a bit (I talk more about this below).

Verdict

While I do really like this pencil, its lasting power isn't good - at least on me. I have puffy eyes and it transfers in two seconds flat.

Although you can set it with a powder and/or use a primer, it still does tend to move on the upper lash line (and the waterline, if that's where you're intending to use it).

In terms of staying power, it fares much better as an inner corner highlight and as a concealer or highlighter (eg for your browbone), and that's how I'll be using it.

You can also help its lasting power by using a cream shadow on your upper lash line first, and then adding the pencil above it for a stronger colour - so while the lasting power isn't brilliant, you can definitely work with the product.

In sum, I really like this and will definitely use it. Most eyeliners transfer on me as it is, so I'm used to working around that issue anyway. But if you're used to eyeliners staying put, this one might annoy you.

Obviously I'm happy with this inclusion in January's box, since I went and scored myself a second one!

Let me know your thoughts if you've used this pencil. I'd be interested in hearing from anyone who doesn't have puffy eyes like mine - does the pencil last well on you?
