DD'ell Stay Forever Gel Eye Pencil 04 in Espresso - review

I received this product in Memebox Superbox #73 F/W Natural Makeup, a box that contained a number of decidedly unnatural products (like glitter dust - my golly).

Fortunately, this brown eyeliner fit the 'natural makeup' theme and it's without question the best item from that box. Indeed, it's one of the best pencil eyeliners I've tried in quite a while.

DD'ell claims/product details:
  • A creamy gel pencil liner
  • Glides on smoothly
  • Stays put for the entire day without smudging or fading
  • Gentle formula for sensitive eyes
  • Comes off easily with warm water
  • Free of alcohol, talc and other nasties
  • RRP $14 for 1.2g

See above swatch of the colour. It's a great colour to line your eyes with if you want to look more natural than you might with a black liner.

Below I gave it a good rub (I mean, a seriously good rub) and I could only shift it a little. Finally an eyeliner that lives up to its claims and doesn't shift. Jump for joy!

I've lined my upper lash-line with it below. A lesser product would transfer onto my upper eye area in less than two seconds because I have puffy eyes. This one doesn't - jump for joy again!

Below I've applied it to my waterline. It's harder to apply there (of course, the area is wet) but it applies and lasts better than most pencils. Hallelujah.

Verdict

Obviously I'm a huge fan of this eyeliner. I can't tell you how hard it is for me to find eyeliners that don't shift - whether pencils, gels or shadows - and the fact that this stays put is so exciting for me it's ridiculous ; )

On top of that, I love the colour and it's the kind of natural brown I would have chosen for myself, had I the choice.

Plus a colour like this brown can double as a brow pencil, so I'm happy about that too.

As for product claims, yes it glides on smoothly and applies well. It does stay put without smudging or fading and it's definitely gentle enough for sensitive eyes: my eyes are sensitive and I can wear this on the waterline without issue. I wouldn't say it comes off super easily (few adherent products do) but it comes off well enough with my usual cleanser.

Top marks from me. If it's easy enough to source online, I can see myself buying another one of these once I've finished this product.
