The Cosmetic Kitchen Raw Chocolate Clay Mask - review

We received this mask in January's Violet Box. It's the second time I've received it (the last one came in Lust Have It), and while I don't mind it in theory, it's one of those self-mix masks that tends to get messy so I wasn't that thrilled to see it again.

Nevertheless it's an ok product and I will use it.

Verdict

I've had to make myself use this for review purposes - it's all a bit of hard work. I've tried it both with the avocado mix (messy) and with just plain water (also messy). It's probably just that I'm lazy, but I much prefer pre-made masks that you whack on and forget about for 20 minutes. I have to make time to use masks as it is (particularly now that I have a baby) and the whole mixing thing just adds to the process.

If I wasn't making myself use it, I'm sure it would be sitting there gathering dust. I have tried it using the avocado/oil mix, but we don't always have avocado on hand (of course) so I'm glad you can use just water too, and to be honest, I haven't noticed any difference in results via the two different methods: the avocado mix just takes longer and I therefore tend to stick with water.

As for the effect of the mask, my skin maybe feels a little tighter and cleaner after use but I really haven't noticed a major difference. The best part of using it is that it smells like chocolate, but the scent alone certainly isn't enough to make me love a product that doesn't seem to be having much impact on my skin.

Just ok.
