little white truths

I picked this brush up cheaply from iherb a couple of months back and I'm so glad I did. It's quickly become a staple for me and I use it daily. I would have to call it one of my favourite brushes of all time - if not my favourite - and it moved to the top of the list from the first time I used it.

One of the reasons I love it so much is that it has helped me get a more even blush application where other brushes have failed. I'm not sure what's going on with my cheeks, but the left one is something of a nightmare to apply blush to because there's almost always a patch in the middle, as though that particular piece of skin doesn't want to hold colour.

The patch is about the size of a twenty-cent piece (so it's sizeable) and I've found that it's there like a gaping bare hole even when I've had my blush applied professionally - so it's obviously not an issue with how I'm doing it (for once!) but something to do with the skin itself.


With this brush, that patch is barely noticeable. I've no idea why that's the case - perhaps the brush is cut in such a way that the bristles are applying colour at a better angle.

In any event, I'm not going to question that too much. I'm just going to be glad that I've found a brush that works for me!

Verdict

I love the pants off this brush and can't recommend it enough.

It's quite a big brush so it might give you a fright at first if you're used to smaller brushes, but you'll soon get over that because it's so good.

It's somehow very soft while still being dense enough to do a good job. I find that I pick up a medium amount of product with this, but I can also use it really softly if I'm working with super pigmented powders or I can swirl it around and pick up heaps of product if my chosen blush is sheer.

The self-standing thing might be useful for some but I store all my brushes in a jar so it's not a plus for me.

It's like no other brush that I own: you can tell from the above shots that the head is an unusual shape and you mightn't have used anything like it before. In this case, that's a good thing because it applies blush like a dream and is so easy to use.

As mentioned above, I've had issues with blush application for as long as I can remember due to that weird patch of skin on my left cheek that doesn't want to hold colour, but this brush has as good as solved that issue because it somehow manages to get colour on that patch of skin. Whether it's because of the angle the bristles are applying colour or due to some other reason I don't know - all I know is that I praise the universe for this brush daily. The weird patch of skin still doesn't hold as much colour as the rest of my cheek area, but it holds more now than it ever has before so only I can tell the difference.

You can see from the photos that this is a fluffy, rounded brush that tapers off at the end. What you can't tell from a photo is how lovely this is to use. It's not only good for standard blush application but also for putting highlighter along the top of my cheekbones (I just use the end for that purpose so I can get a thinner line).

It's generally too big for contouring but you can certainly use it on your forehead for applying highlighter (as well as the tops of your cheekbones) and also down your nose.

It's also great for applying bronzer, and if you had this brush and no other, it's fine as an all-over face brush too.
