As you'll know if you read this blog, I've recently fallen for OGX haircare, and fallen hard.

This product is no exception, and I've been using it in conjunction with the Hydrating Macadamia Oil Shampoo & Conditioner from these guys, and my hair has never been in better condition than it is now.

The only thing I would say about this product is: go easy with application! The first time I used it, I didn't love it because it left my hair too hydrated and feeling heavy and coated, but I worked out that I was using too much product and that was why my hair was left a little lank - so I now use even less of this mask than I would my conditioner, and it works perfectly. Woot woot!

It comes in a generous tub and the product should last for ages because I only need to use a little each time and apply it about once a fortnight. This means it's a good investment, even though it costs more than I would normally pay for haircare.

Having said this, it's not super expensive and OGX is often on special at one of the big pharmacies or supermarkets, so it's worth shopping around and waiting for specials. Of the OGX products I've tried so far, the brown macadamia versions work best for my hair - but plenty of other products are available from the brand so hopefully you can find one that suits your hair. 

Verdict

I love this product and it's the best hair mask I've ever used. I still do love my Royal Moroccan Hair Mask Treatment (reviewed here), but this OGX mask delivers the same results, requires less product per application, and is available for a fraction of the price.

It's a pale yellow cream that looks and feels like custard, and has a faint scent that's fresh and smells sweet like tropical fruit. 

It's quite a thick product and I do recommend starting with a small amount and working it through the hair to the ends. If you're like me and are used to slathering on enough product to hydrate your dry hair, I wouldn't do that with this product: try a smaller amount first (even if it doesn't feel like enough) and then use more next time if that doesn't give you your desired results.

On that, be sure to wash all the product out! I've missed a patch a couple of times and it's left my hair looking dull and greasy in that spot - dry hair can 'cling' to products like this so it's essential to do a really good rinse.

I haven't tried leaving it on for twenty minutes under a shower cap, but that may work best for you if your hair is super dry and needs extra attention.

I've also seen a couple of online reviewers say they use this prior to shampooing and conditioning, which is another way you could try this if you find the product leaves your hair too heavy and coated after use.

What I love about this product is that it leaves my dry, frizzy hair super shiny, soft, manageable and hydrated. Like the matching OGX Hydrating Oil Shampoo & Conditioner, it's also the only product I've ever found that almost completely de-frizzes my hair - even that hard, wiry stuff around the hairline that was previously impossible to tame - so I don't need to use leave-in conditioners or straightening treatments when I use this because the hard work is already done. Amazing!

Yes I think this product meets its claims and I can't recommend it enough. I've given it an HG tag and it's definitely one I'll repurchase when I've finished my tub.
