Baylis & Harding Beauticology Mango & Mandarin Bath & Shower Crème - review

I received this travel-sized body wash from a friend some time ago and I waited before opening it because I'm trying to ration my new stuff these days and only open one product each week if I can help it.

I'm glad I waited because I've used some pretty bung shower gels lately that really haven't added anything to the shower experience - and in some cases have been rather astringent and drying - but happily this one's quite nice and I'm enjoying it.

Baylis & Harding claims/product details:
  • Rich bath and shower cream
  • Delightful fruit aromas
  • Convenient pump bottle (with the full size)
  • Paraben free

Verdict

Unfortunately I couldn't find much information about either the company or its product online, but I wanted to write this review anyway because I gather the range is fairly easy to come by in UK pharmacies so it's worth posting my thoughts since they might be useful to someone.

This body wash smells exactly as you'd expect it to - a nice, fruity mango/mandarin combo that's quite refreshing - and while it's not the richest or most interesting fragrance I've come across, it's still pleasant and I'm happy to have it filling my shower each evening.

What surprised me about this gel was the texture: it's called a crème and while it's not one of those in the traditional sense, it's not a standard gel either because it's super thick and quite rich to the touch. It's almost like jelly, which gave me a fright at first because I wasn't expecting it, but I don't mind it now because it's a little different from the norm.

The good news is that the product lathers beautifully and cleans my skin without stripping it. This makes a dry-skinned lass happy: I've used far too many body gels lately that have been super astringent, so it's nice to finally find one that's not.

A little also goes a long way with this so the product should last a while, and I suspect the gel is good value: although I couldn't find any price for it online, I'm guessing it won't break the bank if it's widely available in UK chemists.

All in all this is a nice product and while I wouldn't rush out and buy it, I think you could do a lot worse and I'll happily use my bottle until it's gone.
