Natura Siberica Softening Cream Soap - review and photos

We've had this soap sitting in the bathroom for ages and I've kept forgetting to review it because I tend to use the other bathroom more, meaning I hadn't used this enough until recently when I decided to swap it for the hand wash in the kitchen so I could give it a good test.

I remember picking it up when we moved into our new house late last year: we'd never had a second bathroom before so another hand wash was needed, and since this was half price at the local chemist, I thought why the hell not.

Fortunately it's quite a good product, and while I'm not sure I would buy it again (I'd prefer to try something else), it's better than other hand washes I've tried so I'm more than happy to use it.

Natura Siberica claims/product details:

  • Wild harvested milfoil, altai anemone, organic oat and organic shea butter condition the skin, leaving it silky smooth and soft
  • Free from SLS, SLES, GMO plants, mineral oils, PEG, parabens and glycol
  • Certified organic by the ICEA
  • RRP $12.99 AUD for 500ml, but do shop around

Verdict

This is a good product at a reasonable price - even more reasonable if you can grab it on special as I did - and while it mightn't be the fanciest soap I've used, it does the job and I have no complaints about the formula.

It's a white gel that does feel rather creamy and it's not as astringent as some cheaper hand washes I've tried, so it doesn't strip my skin or dry it out. This is a plus because my hands are super dry these days anyway, and the last thing I want to do is make them worse by using a bung product.

It has a light, creamy floral scent that's quite refreshing and isn't too strong so it shouldn't offend most people. The product doesn't lather as much as other washes I've used, but this doesn't mean it doesn't clean well - and indeed it removes the gunk from your hands without any fuss and doesn't take off a layer of skin in the process.

I do think there's something softening about it so the product has been named well, and while I still do apply hand cream after using it, I could probably get away without doing this because it doesn't leave my hands feeling parched.

The packaging is functional and I don't mind the brown plastic bottle, although it does show up soap/water flecks more easily than a white or clear bottle would so I feel the need to wipe it down more often than I might another container.

All in all, this is a decent product and I recommend it. While it's not a beautifully luxurious hand wash, it performs well for the price and you do get a truckload of product so it's something you could buy perhaps once a year and not have to worry about running out.

No complaints here.
