Rituals, The Ritual of Ayurveda (Yogi Flow) Foaming Shower Gel - review

I have actually reviewed this product before, but it was back in the early days just after I started blogging so I thought it was worth reviewing again - not only because my style has changed so I have more to say these days, but also because the product has recently undergone a name change so I wanted to review it under its new name.

Before it was called Yogi Flow, and it's now called The Ritual of Ayurveda. Nevertheless it's still the same product, and as you may know, these Rituals shower foams are my favourite body washes on the market. Hands down.

I've tried quite a few different versions of this foam by now and my favourite remains the white one (The Ritual of Sakura, reviewed here), although this pink one holds a special place in my heart because it was the first one I tried.

When we lived in Berlin, a travel-sized bottle of this pink one showed up in one of my Glossyboxes, and I instantly fell in love. Fortunately at that stage I could easily find Rituals stores in Berlin and other parts of Europe, but it's not as easy to get in Australia now that Rituals has packed up and left (the brand was only here for a year or two; perhaps it didn't do well in our market).

I am however pleased to say that I've just seen that Rituals is now stocked on Look Fantastic, which means I'll be able to get my hands on more Rituals products when all of mine have run out. Huzzah. Must start writing wishlist now...

Rituals claims/product details:
  • Unique shower foam technology
  • Contains the centuries-old Ayurvedic ingredients of sweet almond oil and Indian rose
  • Lasts up to fifty showers
  • To use: squeeze a small amount of gel into your hand: contact with water instantly transforms the gel into a rich, relaxing foam
  • RRP $15 AUD approx for 200ml, but do shop around

Verdict

While my reviews of all the different versions of this shower foam are largely the same, I always feel it's worth writing separate reviews as I try new ones - just because anyone who searches for a particular version of the foam may not find a review that's talking about another fragrance.

Long story short, this is without question the best shower gel I've ever used and I don't plan to ever be without one, whether in this scent or one of the many others available (I want to try them all).

It's a gel product in a pressurised can that comes out clear but then foams up quickly on contact with water. A little goes a long way with this so don't squirt out too much: start small and then go from there, once you know how much the gel expands into its foam state.

Do note that you'll probably accidentally squirt out too much product on the first few uses. I guess that's because the can is full and the pressure is bringing up the excess. I've been through many bottles and I've never been able to squirt out a small amount when I've just opened one, but never fear because it's easy enough to dispense less product once you've got through that first little bit.

As soon as the product foams up, the scent hits your nose and this one's lovely. It's not my favourite but I do like it - it smells fresh, sweet and clean, a little soapy - and I always feel a lift when I use it. It doesn't matter how bad or how long my day with two toddlers has been: a dose of this and I'm carried off into hot shower heaven. Yay to that.

Once on the skin, the foam feels beautifully rich, creamy and luxurious. Almost velvety. I can't remember ever using a body cleanser that feels so wonderful in texture: it's just gorgeous. The product cleans well too - without stripping or irritating my dry, sensitive skin - so that's another plus, and another reason why I don't plan to ever be without this foam again.

All in all, I obviously love this stuff and I've given it an HG tag. It's perfect. Plus it's not too expensive and my bottles always last for ages - much longer than the fifty showers stated in the claims - possibly because I ration it, but a little does go a long way.

Just divine. Easily one of my favourite products of all time.
