Batiste Dry Shampoo, Wild - review

Back in April I reviewed one of these dry shampoos in the Tropical version (see here) and I really liked the formula but not the scent, so when I saw these on special at the supermarket, I went ahead and bought a couple more.

Dry shampoo is one of those things that I like to have on-hand but I don't usually use unless I really need to - for the simple reason that it's expensive for what it is and I tend to blow through my bottles really quickly.

Not only do I have long hair, but mine's also dry so I use a lot of nourishing products - meaning my locks can often wind up feeling weighed down and in need of a quick fix. That's what dry shampoo is great for, but since I'm not heading into an office daily, then I'd prefer to just wash my hair and save the dry shampoo for emergencies so I don't need to keep buying more.

Anyhoo. I like this line, I must say. I'd been meaning to try Batiste dry shampoos for ages and I'm glad that this year I finally did. It was high time. And from now on I'll keep buying them. Because they work.

Verdict

This is an excellent dry shampoo and I'm glad I've found the range. I'm also glad that I've tried a different fragrance from the Tropical one because I didn't love that (too sweet, too overpowering) so I wouldn't return to that particular scent.

The fragrance of this one is ok. I definitely get the oriental aspect - and the cocoa, vanilla and musk notes mentioned in the description (more of the musk and vanilla) - but let's face it, it still smells like one of those cheap deodorant sprays that I used to use in senior school. Having said this, most scented dry shampoos smell like that to me, and thankfully the scent of this one does die down so I'm only aware of it if I sniff my hair after use.

What's great about this product is that it does exactly what it says it will do: it makes my hair look and feel cleaner and fresher, plus it adds body and texture to boot.

The other good news is that this product doesn't only work on hair that needs a wash: it also works if eg you've used a product that's left your hair feeling heavy and coated, so if I've used a shampoo/conditioner combo that's left a film, a few sprays of this will manage the issue well. While most dry shampoos can handle normal 'human' grease (sorry gross ; )), not all of them can handle product overload - so it's a huge plus in my books that this one can.

I've also discovered that it makes my hair easier to brush so I think it has a detangling effect too, plus it adds some shine and makes my hair feel softer. So basically it does everything that I want and need a dry shampoo to do. Hip hip hooray.

One thing to note is that, if you touch your hair after using this, your hands will feel a bit powdered - but that doesn't bother me because you can't see the stuff on your hair and it doesn't leave a white cast (provided you brush it through).

Overall this is great product and one I recommend. I'm looking forward to trying more scents from the range so I can find my favourite, but I can tell you now that I definitely prefer Wild over Tropical.

Love.
