I sat down this morning to review a face cream before realising that this was the review I needed to write today. Reason being, I only have one application left of this dry shampoo and I need to use it now because my hair's flat and greasy - which is of course the perfect time to review it.

I didn't buy this. It was one of the gifts I chose last quarter as part of Priceline's Pink Diamond Reward Program. From memory I mostly chose hair products because I had so many skincare and makeup items that I didn't want to overload myself with more, but when the next rewards are available, this might change because I've managed to reduce my stores pretty well.

Anyhoo. This product. It's not great and I think you can do better.

Funnily enough others agree with me and the online reviews are mixed. Some people love it while others say it does bugger all.

I agree: it does bugger all. I'll be sticking with my trusty Batiste from now on!

Verdict

This isn't a good product and I don't recommend it. Indeed, I've tried quite a few things from Toni & Guy in my time and none of them has worked for me, so it's obviously just not my brand.

The product is a standard dry shampoo that comes in a spray can. It has a light, fresh and slightly fruity scent that I enjoy.

You apply it to the roots of your hair (as you would any dry shampoo) and then comb it through. It's meant to absorb oil and make your hair look fresher, but unfortunately it doesn't do a very good job of this - or at least it doesn't for me.

I've just used the last application and while I think it's done a small amount towards absorbing oil, it hasn't done enough and my hair still looks and feels greasy. I also need to use a lot of product each time to get any effect, so I don't think it's a good-value purchase on a price-per-use basis.

Another thing to note is that it doesn't do a thing for product build-up. Good dry shampoos not only work on stock-standard hair grease, but they also help if you've accidentally applied too much leave-in conditioner or if the haircare you're using has weighed your locks down. By way of comparison, my beloved Batiste dry shampoo (reviewed here) works in this situation, but this product definitely doesn't.

It also doesn't help with detangling, adding shine or managing frizz - and a good dry shampoo should do all of those things I reckon - so there's honestly no reason for me to use this.

Overall I don't think this is a good product and it doesn't meet its claims in my experience so I can't recommend it. It just doesn't do enough for me, and I'm super glad that I've finished it.

I've given it a 'disappointing products' tag.
